Every Thanksgiving, people across the United States gather with their families to celebrate the holiday with delicious meals and festive spirit. For those of us who follow celebrities, it’s also intriguing to see how our favorite stars spend this time with their loved ones. Unfortunately, one celebrity couple won’t be together for Thanksgiving this year.
It appears that Taylor Swift will not be joining her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and his family for Thanksgiving. Donna Kelce, Travis’s mom, has shared the reasons behind this decision, and it’s all due to Taylor’s packed schedule.
Taylor’s Touring Commitments
Donna Kelce, at 72 years of age, appeared on the Today show and spoke about Taylor Swift’s busy schedule. Taylor is presently gearing up for the final performances of her incredibly successful Eras tour, which wraps up on December 8th in Vancouver. Additionally, Travis’s football games further complicate scheduling for a holiday meal.
It’s no surprise that Taylor’s dedication to her career means that she won’t be able to make it to the Kelce Thanksgiving dinner. However, Donna did express understanding, saying, “I don’t think so. She’s kind of busy right now. She still has her tour to do.”
Football Never Takes a Break
While some families plan elaborate Thanksgiving feasts, for the Kelce family, football remains a major part of their holiday traditions. With Travis in the midst of an NFL season playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, their plans revolve around his professional commitments as well. On Thanksgiving Day, Travis will need to focus on his game, and his family understands that.
Donna mentioned, “I am going to be at a football game,” highlighting how the sport often dominates their family tradition. Football always merges with the holidays for them, a sentiment echoed by her 37-year-old son Jason Kelce, formerly a center for the Philadelphia Eagles.
An Unusual Thanksgiving
Unlike millions who celebrate with grand meals, the Kelce family hasn’t formally planned a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Instead, their focus will shift more towards enjoying time together in whatever way they can, given Travis’s role in shaping historic moments in Chiefs history. Recently, Travis matched a notable record by tying Tony Gonzalez for the most touchdowns during a game—a match that Taylor attended, supporting him from the stands.
Taylor Swift, on the other hand, has also made waves in the public eye, proven by her numerous accolades and awards. Her presence at Travis’s game day came just as she celebrated winning four EMAs, including Best Video, Best Artist, Best Live, and Best US Act, celebrating her massive achievements alongside her personal commitments.
Despite the hustle and bustle of their professional lives, both Taylor and Travis seem to understand the importance of supporting each other through thick and thin, evident from Taylor’s open stance on their public relationship: “When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, and other people are there, and we don’t care.”
While Taylor will miss out on the Kelce family festivities this Thanksgiving, it’s heartening to see the mutual respect and understanding in their relationship, where both can pursue their dreams independently without hampering their connection. Here’s wishing both the Kelce family and Taylor Swift a joyous holiday season, each celebrating in their unique ways.
