No matter who you are, there’s nothing worse than experiencing the loss of a beloved pet. Even the biggest celebrities still grieve for their dogs and cats.
Now, Reese Witherspoon is in mourning after the death of her beloved dog Hank
The Legally Blonde star, 48, announced the news on social media on Tuesday that Hank, her beloved pet Labrador, had passed away.
The dog, named after country music legend Hank Williams, had been a part of Witherspoon’s family for over 14 years.
“We will miss your sweet spirit, Hank,” Witherspoon wrote in her Instagram stories. “Thank you for being the best family pet and the pack leader.”
The actress’ daughter, Ava Phillippe, also shared a tribute to the late dog on Instagram.
Witherspoon’s son Deacon also shared a tribute on Instagram, calling Hank “the happiest dog that ever lived.”
The Walk the Line Oscar-winner is a big animal lover who has many pets at home. Her other dogs include French bulldog Minnie Pearl, a Labrador named Major, and a bulldog named Lou, according to Celebrity Pets.
She also reportedly has a mini farm, which includes goats, pigs, chickens, a horse and two miniature donkeys named Honky and Tonky.
Reese’s pets have been the frequent stars of her social media: she often posts photos and videos of her and her family bonding with the animals at home, especially during the pandemic lockdowns in 2020.
Hank’s passing comes four years after Witherspoon said goodbye to another one of her dogs, Pepper. At the time she mourned the French bulldog as a “loyal and devoted family member.”
“I am so heart broken, but I am also deeply grateful for all the love and comfort she brought our family. Now she’s in dog heaven where all great pets go. Chasing tennis balls, running through open fields of wild flowers and being the Queen that she is.”
Saying goodbye to a pet dog is one of the hardest things to do — our hearts are with Reese Witherspoon and her family during this time.
Please share this story in memory of Hank.
