Big Little Lies season 3 is officially in the works — but Nicole Kidman spoiled the surprise a little too early.

In November, Kidman, 56, seemingly revealed that a third season of the hit HBO series was happening — much to fans’ delight after a five-year wait — with an off-the-cuff comment at a fan event.

After declaring that the team behind the show “will be bringing you a third one,” her costar and co-producer Reese Witherspoon had a bit of a crisis on her hands.

“Listen, this one already went somewhere and said too much and then I get the call, the ‘ring, ring,’ like, ‘Hey, is that happening?’” Witherspoon shared in a Vanity Fair video regarding the aftermath of Kidman’s revealing comments.

Kidman said she “didn’t realize” and “got excited.”

“It’s okay, baby, I get excited too,” Witherspoon said, before revealing that the other major cast members were quick to get in touch with her when they heard the news. “Then I’ve got Laura [Dern] calling me, and Zoë [Kravitz], Shailene [Woodley]. They’re all like, ‘Nic said that we’re making Big Little Lies 3.’”

Now, according to Kidman, things are moving full steam ahead on a third installment of the series, which is based on Liane Moriarty’s novel of the same name.

“We’re moving fast and furious. And Lianne is delivering the book and we’re in good shape,” Kidman said before cutting herself off from sharing too much — again.

“The rest is — we need to shut up because there’s this whole thing that you should never talk about something until you’ve done it, because if you talk about doing it, it’s the dopamine hit of doing it — you feel like you’ve done it.”

In January, Kidman shared that her daughter played a role in getting a third season of Big Little Lies to happen, as she told Vogue Australia that her 15-year-old has recently watched the show and was an instant fan.

“She has a very good understanding of things, and life, so she was hand-held through it,” Kidman said of Sunday Rose, who she shares with husband Keith Urban.

After finishing season 2, Kidman said her daughter told her, “There’s no more discussion. The third series has to happen … I’m sick of the talk. Sick of circling it. Just get it done.”

“You need a teenager to go, ‘Enough. Just do it,’” Kidman said.

Seasons 1 and 2 of Big Little Lies can be streamed on Max.
