The beginning of this month brought some significant changes for the British royal family.
Prince Harry returned to London to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. Meanwhile, during his visit, his brother, Prince William, was bestowed with a notable new title by King Charles. Although the timing seemed coincidental, many perceived it as a subtle snub to Prince Harry.
The announcement from the Palace confirmed King Charles III appointing Prince William as the colonel-in-chief of the Army Air Corps.
โHis Majesty the King will officially hand over the role of Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales,โ the palaceโs statement disclosed. โIn August 2023, following His Majestyโs Accession, the King was pleased to announce military appointments including that the Prince of Wales would become Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps. The role was previously held by His Majesty the King, as Prince of Wales, for 31 years.โ

This new role places William in charge of a unit where Harry once served. Back in 2008, Harry completed his Army Air Corps โGradingโ and Pilotโs Selection Board interview, eventually training as an Army Air Corps pilot in 2009.
โUpon successful completion of the Army Pilots Course, Prince Harry was chosen to train on the Apache Attack Helicopter,โ Harryโs biography on the official royal family website read before it was removed. โOn that same day, it was announced that Prince Harry received his provisional wings from his father.โ Charles, who was the colonel-in-chief of the Army Air Corps at the time, made the ceremony especially memorable for Harry.

The announcement of Williamโs new title arrives amidst a period of heightened public interest, partly due to the troubled relationship between Prince Harry and his father. There is much speculation about their recent interactions, or absence thereof, during Prince Harryโs latest visit to the UK, shedding light on the complexities within the royal family.
During Harryโs recent UK visit, he and King Charles didnโt meet due to the kingโs โfull programme.โ
However, Prince Harry did express hope to see his father soon.

Despite the strained relationships within the royal family, Harry shared his joy about being back in the UK. Reflecting on a recent event, he called it โamazingโ and praised the efforts of Scottyโs, highlighting the crucial support they offer to children.

โThe more opportunities you have to participate in these kinds of events, the more families and kids become aware of this place, which is really the most important thing,โ Harry said, according to BBC.
