An influencer stirred up the online community with a TikTok post claiming that she’s just “too pretty” for the hustle and bustle of everyday work.
Viewers quickly labeled her as “shallow” and “entitled,” expressing anger over the notion that only unattractive people should hold jobs.
Stick around to learn more about Lucy Welcher’s controversial post!
Lucy Welcher, a well-known social media personality with almost 20 million likes, recently posted a video that set off a viral frenzy.
In her typical style, the young blonde, who often admits she’s “the worst type of person…who cannot handle getting their own way,” is seen in her car, sipping iced coffee or showing off a haul from one of her favorite shops.
On November 8, 2022, Lucy, who is now 20 years old, shared a TikTok video with the caption, “Not my thing [laughing emoji] #working #scam.”
“I do not want to work for the rest of my life. Does it look like I want to get up at 6 a.m. every single day for the next 60 years? No! I’m too pretty for that!” she exclaimed in the nine-second clip.
The clip sparked a slew of comments, with many criticizing her for being “lazy” and “entitled.”
“Boy, I wish I had your confidence, the same confidence to feel like I’m better looking than I actually am. You people are so shallow and in love with yourselves,” commented one user.
Another added, “Someone’s entitled. I hope you get humbled, girl. Looks have nothing to do with working, and it’s sad you think that way.”
A third commentator snapped, “How about trying to be an adult instead of acting like a privileged princess expecting everything to be served to you?”
‘Slandered’
In response to the backlash, Lucy deleted the controversial video and posted a new one, explaining that her original message was meant as a joke. She said she’s being “slandered all over social media for that video I posted.”
With a touch of sarcasm, the TikTok star addressed some of the online gossip, denying that she owns “class vehicles” or earns $100,000 a year. She also clarified that she’s Canadian and laughed off claims that she lives in a mansion, saying, “My house is literally falling apart.”
‘Remake’
A few days later, on November 14, Lucy shared another video, sipping on her iced coffee again.
Captioned, “Remake of the most hated video I’ve ever made,” she repeated the script from her deleted “I’m too pretty” video.
This time, the majority of online users rallied behind her when they realized her earlier message was meant as a joke.
One commenter said, “You’re 100% correct. Getting up early and going to work will definitely spoil your good looks.”
Another added, “This video and the first one gave me life.”
In support, another user wrote, “You are too pretty for that. Those are just the hard, cold facts of life.”
