Alicia’s battle with breast cancer had worsened, leading to her last days in hospice care. John, remembering their final moments, revealed the mixture of truth and lies he shared to ease her departure.

“I of course told her it was OK,” he recounted. “But then I lied, because I said, ‘Don’t worry about me; I’ll be OK.’ That was a lie I had to tell, but she knew it.”

John expressed his belief in eternal togetherness with Alicia. “The last thing I said to her was, ‘I love you desperately, and I’ve got multiple sets of very long-term plans for you,’” indicating his belief in an eternal connection.

John publicly announced the loss of his wife on social media. “My beautiful Smile is pain-free, living in her new body alongside Jesus,” he shared, requesting privacy during their time of mourning.
