Dolly Parton’s story is coming to Broadway!
The beloved country music icon, Dolly Parton, has announced something truly special—a Broadway musical based on her life! Titled Hello, I’m Dolly, this new show will not only tell Dolly’s inspiring life story but also feature brand-new songs alongside her classic hits.
On June 6, the 77-year-old star shared on social media, “I’ve been writing my life story as a Broadway musical for several years and I’m proud to announce we are finally developing ‘Hello, I’m Dolly – An Original Musical’ for the Broadway stage.”
The musical, slated to premiere in 2026, pulls its title from Dolly’s first album, “Hello, I’m Dolly,” which debuted in 1967.
Parton expressed her excitement, saying, “Hello, I’m Dolly, and I lived my whole life to see this show on stage. I’ve written many original songs for the show and included all your favorites in it as well.”
In a playful tone, she added, “You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll clap, you’ll stomp, it truly is a Grand Ol’ Opera. Pun and fun intended. Don’t miss it!”
Alongside Dolly, producers Adam Speers of ATG Productions and Danny Nozell of CTK Enterprises will co-produce the show.
Adam Speers shared his enthusiasm, “I first had the pleasure of working with Dolly in 2019 when she trusted us to develop a new version of her musical 9 to 5 for London’s West End. I had always heard she wanted to do a musical based on her life, so when she asked if I would be interested in producing it, I was bowled over.”
He added, “As the world knows, Dolly is a magical blend of talent, hard work, intelligence, charm, wit, and a gigantically big heart. I’m thrilled we’re going to bring her inspiring story to Broadway.”

With a career that has spanned nearly 60 years in music and over 40 in film, Dolly Parton has earned 11 Grammy Awards and has been nominated for the Emmy, Oscar, and Tony Awards.
While there’s no confirmation yet on whether Dolly will grace the stage herself in this new production, she did mention in a 2021 interview with Tim McGraw on his show, Beyond The Influence Radio, that she only takes roles that align closely with her own personality.
“I only take parts that are pretty close to my own personality,” Dolly said. “I have never yet done one of those scenes that was that far-fetched.”
She added, “Even when I did Steel Magnolias, I played a beautician. If I hadn’t made it in the music business, I would have been a beautician. So I understood that.”
