It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joe Elmore, the beloved host of Tennessee Crossroads. At the age of 80, after a long illness, Joe left us, leaving a monumental legacy in the hearts of his fans.
A True Legend in Tennessee
Joe’s remarkable career spanned an impressive 37 years on Tennessee Crossroads. He dedicated his life to showcasing the hidden gems of our beautiful state, from important people and places to mouthwatering foods, restaurants, and unforgettable events.
A Multitalented Individual
Not only was Joe the face of Tennessee Crossroads, but he also made appearances on other notable shows. Many of you may have seen him on NBC Sports’ “Detroit Muscle,” a weekly program that delves into the world of American muscle cars. Additionally, he hosted Spike TV’s “Horsepower,” captivating audiences from 1997 to 2013.
From Arkansas to Tennessee
Joe Elmore’s journey began in Arkansas, where he was born. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in journalism and his Master’s degree in broadcasting and film from the University of Memphis. While working at the university as an assistant professor and director of media relations, Joe honed his skills and made valuable connections.
In 1985, Joe made the move to Nashville, and the city quickly became his new home. Throughout his life, he displayed an immense passion for music, even playing in bands during his younger years. Some may even remember him as part of the Bill Black Combo, where he played alongside the legendary Bill Black, who was famously known as Elvis Presley’s bassist.
Preserving Joe’s Legacy
Joe Elmore’s impact reached far beyond television screens. His genuine love for storytelling and his ability to bring people together through his narratives touched the lives of countless viewers. Tennessee Crossroads will continue to honor Joe’s legacy, carrying on his work and sharing the untold stories of our beloved state.
