A man and his wife were having a chat about what career their son might choose when he grows up.
“I’ve got an idea,” the father said with a twinkle in his eye.
He placed a ten-dollar bill, a bottle of whiskey, and a Bible on the coffee table.
“If he picks up the money, he’ll become a banker.”
“If he goes for the whiskey, he might turn out to be a drunk,…”
“And if he chooses the Bible, that means he’ll be a preacher.”
So, the couple decided to hide and wait patiently for their son to come into the room, observing from their secret spot.
Soon enough, the boy meandered in and headed straight for the coffee table.
He picked up the ten-dollar bill, examined it for a moment, and then set it back down.
Next, he grabbed the bottle of whiskey, popped it open, sniffed it, and put it back.
Then he picked up the Bible, flipped through a few pages, and put it down as well.
After a moment of contemplation, the boy stuffed the money into his pocket, grabbed the whiskey bottle, and tucked the Bible under his arm before walking off.
“Well, would you look at that!” exclaimed the father…
… “He’s going to be a politician!”
