While Donald Trump savored his election triumph alongside tech titan Elon Musk, not all of Musk’s family celebrated the occasion. Vivian Wilson, his daughter, has taken a clear stance—she’s not planning to be around for Trump’s second term.
Vivian shared on Threads, “I don’t see my future being in the United States.” This sentiment echoes the declarations of several celebrities, including Cher, Sharon Stone, Barbra Streisand, and Whoopi Goldberg, who previously professed intentions to leave the US should Trump reclaim the presidency. With his recent victory, there is speculation about whether these celebrities will act on their words.
At least one person is poised to follow through—Elon Musk’s daughter, Vivian Wilson. The 20-year-old, who legally changed both her name and gender identity in 2022, plans to depart from the country following Trump’s win.
“I’ve thought this for a while, but yesterday confirmed it for me. I don’t see my future being in the United States. Even if he’s only in office for 4 years, even if the anti-trans regulations magically don’t happen, the people who willingly voted this in are not going anywhere anytime soon,” Vivian expressed on Threads.
Two years ago, Vivian, born Xavier Musk, gained significant attention when she chose to publicly distance herself from her father, Elon Musk. She articulated, “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form.” This step was part of a broader initiative to sever connections with her influential father, marked by adopting her mother’s surname.
Elon Musk, father to twelve children, has been candid about his discomfort concerning his daughter’s transition and acknowledges a strained parent-child relationship.
Controversial remarks on her transition
In a candid interview this past July, Musk made the controversial remark that his “son” was now “dead.” He elaborated, “It happened to one of my older boys, where I was essentially tricked into signing documents for one of my older boys.” Musk described the transition taking place during the pandemic as a period filled with confusion and misinformation. He added that he was led to believe his child might resort to suicide if the transition didn’t proceed, admitting to his initial lack of awareness regarding the situation.
Elon Musk, who has emerged as a vocal supporter of Trump, attributes his child’s decision to the so-called “woke mind virus.” He believes this influence contributed to what he describes as his son’s metaphorical “death.”
This familial discord highlights a broader societal divide reflecting the current political tensions in the United States.
As Vivian seeks to forge her own path away from her father’s shadow, Elon Musk continues to stand firm in his controversial opinions regarding gender identity, maintaining an ongoing dialogue about their relationship. With Trump’s reentry to the White House, this polarization continues, impacting countless American families in unexpected ways. The question remains whether Vivian will remain firm in her resolve to leave the country.
