Once again, the spotlight shone brightly on Kate Middleton and Prince William’s trio of charming kiddos as they trotted out for their grandfather King Charles’ second birthday parade. Just imagine – a horse-drawn carriage ride through the bustling streets of London, culminating in a royal family gathering on Buckingham Palace’s iconic balcony. Perks of the crown, right?
Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, gave their royal waves to adoring crowds gathered along The Mall in London, clearly pros at this whole family affair thing. But let’s face it, the highlight was Princess Charlotte taking on her big sister duties with aplomb. Picture this: as the national anthem played, Charlotte showed Louis the correct way to hold his arms. Classic sibling authority figure moment!
These kids are no strangers to the palace balcony. Prince George had his debut at his first Trooping the Colour at barely a year old, looking snug in his dad’s arms. Fast forward to 2019, when Prince Louis stole the show, waving enthusiastically in his very first balcony appearance. Clearly, the royal genes include a flair for public appearances.
The Trooping the Colour celebrations in recent years were reduced due to the pandemic, but the tradition returned full force in 2022 for what turned out to be the last time celebrating Queen Elizabeth. Just a few days after the parade, George, Charlotte, and Louis shared the balcony yet again for the Platinum Jubilee, honoring Queen Elizabeth’s incredible 70-year reign before her passing in September 2022.
In May 2023, the royal squad was back at it again on the palace balcony for another momentous occasion: the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla. Freshly crowned, the new monarchs watched alongside George, Charlotte, and Louis as RAF planes soared through the skies in a magnificent flypast. The kids certainly know how to keep up with royal traditions!

Earlier that day, the miniature royalty made a grand entrance in a horse-drawn carriage as part of the Trooping the Colour procession. Although balcony appearances are their bread and butter, riding in that carriage must’ve been a memorable first – debuting just the year before in 2022.
Then there’s Prince Louis, the family’s little mischief maker. Onlookers were treated to a mini-dance show as he grooved to the band’s music at Horse Guards’ Parade, much to Princess Kate’s amusement. Charlotte, though, seemed less entertained and firmly encouraged her fun-loving brother to cease his antics. Little brothers, am I right?
If yawns were currency, Prince Louis would be rolling in it after a tiresome day of royal engagements. He even found time to play with curtain cords, proving royals are just like us – finding amusement in the simplest things.
The parade also marked a poignant moment for Princess Kate, who was making her first public appearance since announcing her cancer diagnosis in March. Gathering with her family for King Charles’ birthday parade, Princess Kate’s presence added a special touch to an already significant event.
Though she’s been keeping a low profile post-diagnosis, she’s recently been spotted out and about, not to mention running errands solo. In a heartfelt message, Kate shared she is “starting to do a little work from home,” with hopes to join public engagements over the summer. She’ll undoubtedly continue to pace her return to royal duties according to her medical team’s advice, but her resilience is nothing short of inspiring.
