My dear girl, as I grow older, I kindly ask for your patience and understanding. Please try to grasp what I’m experiencing during these times.
If our conversations become repetitive and I recount the same stories over and over, please don’t interrupt with, “You said that already.” Simply listen. Think back to when you were little, and I would read your favorite bedtime story night after night until you fell asleep.
When I resist taking a bath, don’t get annoyed or embarrassed. Remember how I would chase after you with playful excuses to get you into the bath when you were young?
If my understanding of new technology seems woefully inadequate, grant me the time to learn without impatience. Have a little mercy, as I taught you so many essentials of life—eating properly, getting dressed, combing your hair, and navigating daily challenges.
On days when I lose track of our conversation, give me a moment to recall. If I can’t remember, don’t get frustrated or impatient.
Always remember that the most precious thing to me is being with you.
As my legs grow weary and I can’t move as swiftly, reach out your hand to me, just as I offered mine to you when you took your first steps.
When these moments come, don’t feel sorrowful. Just be near me and understand my journey as I approach the twilight of my life, filled with love. I will always cherish and be thankful for the wonderful times we’ve shared.
With a broad smile and a heart overflowing with love, I simply want to say, I love you, my darling daughter.
