Josh Hall filed for divorce from the HGTV star on Monday after nearly three years of marriage.
Christina Hall and her husband, Josh Hall, experienced marital troubles well before news of their split, a source tells PEOPLE exclusively. The couple “had issues in the marriage for quite some time” before Josh filed for divorce on Monday, according to the source. A separate source close to Christina confirmed that she is filing as well.
Legal documents obtained by PEOPLE on July 16 reveal that Josh, 43, filed for a dissolution of marriage due to “irreconcilable differences” almost three years after they tied the knot on Oct. 6, 2021. Per the filing, Josh is requesting spousal support from the HGTV host, who stars alongside him on her shows Christina on the Coast, Christina in the Country, and the upcoming series The Flip Off, which is set to premiere in 2025.
The couple, who secretly tied the knot in a private courthouse ceremony in 2021, celebrated their nuptials again in Hawaii in September 2022, surrounded by friends and family. Shortly after going public with their relationship in July 2021, Christina praised Josh as her “ride or die” in an Instagram post. And in September 2023, she echoed the sentiment in a heartfelt tribute to her husband in honor of his 43rd birthday.
“Happy Birthday to my gorgeous husband,” she wrote in an Instagram caption. “My ride or die, protector and the best step daddy.” An accompanying carousel of photos showed highlights of the couple’s relationship. In one image, the pair kissed on a beach during sunset, while another pictured them enjoying a seafood tower with friends.
Christina was previously married to her former Flip or Flop co-star Tarek El Moussa and Celebrity IOU: Joyride host Ant Anstead. She shares Taylor, 13, and Brayden, 8, with El Moussa, 42. She and Anstead, 45, welcomed son Hudson, 4, together.
HGTV announced in May that Christina and Josh were set to compete with Tarek and his current wife, Heather El Moussa, 36, in a new series called The Flip Off, premiering in 2025. The show marks Tarek and Christina’s first time working together since Flip or Flop ended after nine years in March 2022. The exes and co-parents continued to film that show for several seasons following the end of their seven-year marriage.
The network has not yet shared how Josh and Christina’s divorce might impact the upcoming show.
