The incident was captured on Adriana’s doorbell camera, also known as a Ring camera. The video shows a man, identified as George Vassiliou, waiting for Adriana’s daughter Lex to come home. As soon as Lex entered the building, Vassiliou grabbed her from behind and tried to force her down the stairs.
But Adriana, hearing her daughter’s screams, sprung into action. She ran into the hallway and confronted Vassiliou. In her own words, “It’s my baby, you can’t take her.” Adriana fought him off as they struggled down four flights of stairs, hitting and kicking him in the process.
Other neighbors also came to Adriana’s aid. One person even used a stick to hit Vassiliou. Finally, Adriana managed to get her daughter to safety and they cried out for help. A brave neighbor held down Vassiliou until the police arrived.
Both Adriana and Lex were injured in the altercation. Adriana suffered a fractured eye socket, dislocated shoulder and elbow, and nerve damage. But she wears these injuries with pride, knowing that she did everything she could to protect her daughter.
According to Adriana, Vassiliou and Lex used to work together at a supermarket. They were on friendly terms until he started acting strange and making her uncomfortable. After she turned him down for a date, he began stalking her, even trying to grab her off the street. This led to a restraining order against him.
Vassiliou now faces charges of attempted kidnapping, assault, weapon possession, harassment, and violating an order of protection. He pleaded not guilty to these charges.
