Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi Goldberg is a household name in Hollywood, a talented actress and comedian with a long list of awards to her name. She’s one of the rare few with an EGOT status, having won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. But even with all her success, Whoopi has had to deal with long-standing rumors and suspicions about her sexuality.

On an episode of The Best Podcast Ever With Raven & Miranda, Whoopi opened up about these rumors when she was asked about her sexuality by co-host Raven-Symoné. Raven admitted that Whoopi had always given her “lesbian vibes” and “stud vibes.” Raven’s wife, Miranda, jokingly added that it might be a secret fantasy of Raven’s for Whoopi to come out as gay.

Whoopi, who has played queer characters in her career, acknowledged that people have been asking her about her sexuality for as long as she can remember. The skepticism she faces might be fueled by her previous marriages to men, all of which ended in divorce. In fact, she has even referred to herself as “relationship-averse” in the past.

In an interview, Whoopi shared her thoughts on the pressure to conform to societal expectations of relationships. She said, “People expect you to have a boyfriend. They expect you to get married.” But she realized that she didn’t want to conform to those expectations and didn’t feel the need to be in a marriage just because society wanted her to. She embraced her individuality and chose not to conform.

Raven-Symoné then praised Whoopi’s ability to embrace both her masculine and feminine sides, saying that it was beautiful to see. Whoopi simply replied, “God created us in duality,” emphasizing that there’s no need to fit into a specific label or category.

To clear the air about her sexuality, Whoopi confirmed in the interview, “I am not a lesbian but I know lots of them, and I’ve played them on television. I have always had lesbian friends because they’re just my friends.” She explained that while she sets boundaries with her friends, she values their friendship and embraces their differences.

So, the rumors can finally be put to rest. Whoopi Goldberg is straight, but she has always been accepting and supportive of her LGBTQ+ friends.

We love Whoopi Goldberg for the talented performer she is, and her ability to challenge societal norms. What are your thoughts on this story? Let us know in the comments. Share this article to continue the conversation!
