Kirsten Dunst, known for her roles in the Spider-Man movies, recently opened up about her regrets regarding not standing up for herself on the movie set. In an interview with Marie Claire, Dunst shared how she never spoke up when she was referred to as a ‘girly-girl’ on the Spider-Man set.

“It was a joke, but on Spider-Man, they would call me ‘girly-girl’ sometimes on the walkie-talkie. ‘We need girly-girl.’ But I never said anything. … Like, don’t call me that!” Dunst expressed. During that time in Hollywood, speaking up against such remarks was unheard of. “You didn’t say anything. You just took it,” she explained.

Dunst also revealed that when she was younger, she once shared with her manager that she felt like she got hired because people might want to sleep with her. As a result, she gravitated towards working with female directors at a young age to avoid such situations.

Despite her success in the Spider-Man franchise, Dunst chose not to capitalize on it to become a “movie-star-movie-star.” Instead, she followed her heart and sought roles that spoke to her. However, she did mention that she would consider doing another big-budget superhero project due to her financial responsibilities.

Dunst’s upcoming movie, Civil War, is a political thriller set to grace theaters on April 26. By sharing her experiences and regrets, she hopes to inspire others to speak up and stand against inappropriate behavior in the entertainment industry.
