There are a number of milestones in life: getting your driver’s license, renting your first hotel room, and more. But did you know that, according to some fashion experts, there’s also an age when you might want to reconsider wearing jeans?

Believe it or not, fashion gurus believe there comes a time to retire your beloved denim. They suggest that by a certain age, it might be best to donate those jeans. Even more interesting, this claim is backed by some eye-opening statistics.

The statistics in question come from CollectPlus, a UK courier company that surveyed 2,000 shoppers across the nation. They delved into their shopping habits and clothing preferences, focusing specifically on jeans.

From this survey, the consensus was clear: many people believe that by the age of 53, it’s time to hang up the jeans. But it’s not necessarily about making a fashion statement. The bigger issue lies in finding jeans that fit comfortably as our bodies change with age.

For denim lovers, the numbers might seem a bit disheartening. The survey revealed that 10% of those over 50 struggled to find a good fit, often trying on up to six different styles. It appears that shopping for jeans past a certain age becomes quite stressful. In fact, by age 53, many reported reaching peak levels of stress during their jeans shopping experience. A small percentage even admitted to getting so frustrated they were brought to tears.

Regardless of age, finding the perfect pair of jeans is universally challenging. Studies show that the average person dedicates between five to eight days searching for jeans that fit just right. Not surprisingly, once they do find that elusive pair, they often won’t buy another for about three years.

Even with these statistics, if you still love your denim and it makes you feel comfortable and happy, go ahead and wear them with pride! After all, fashion should be about what makes you feel good.
