Princess was left outside the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria in Virginia, confined to a small dog crate. Accompanying her were bags containing her belongings and a heart-wrenching note from her owner, requesting her euthanasia and the distribution of her belongings among other dogs after her passing.
Despite her age, the shelter recognized that Princess deserved more than to be put to sleep. They reached out to Miri’s Haven Senior Dog Rescue, an organization specializing in caring for older dogs. The rescue gladly accepted Princess and wasted no time in providing her with the care she desperately needed.
According to an update from the rescue shared on Facebook, Princess seemed to have been well-cared for. It remains a mystery why her owner made the heartbreaking decision to abandon her in such a callous manner. However, the rescue remains committed to rectifying Princess’s past and ensuring she experiences a happier final chapter in her life.
Since arriving at the rescue, Princess has flourished. Despite her challenging circumstances, she has amazed everyone with her resilience and positive spirit. The rescue has delightedly shared heartwarming photos and videos of Princess, showcasing her rocking some cozy dog sweaters.
Considering Princess’s medical history, the rescue determined that she would thrive best in a dedicated hospice foster home. Remarkably, Princess is doing exceptionally well and is guaranteed to spend her remaining days surrounded by love, comfort, and the care she truly deserves.
It is essential to remember that no dog should be euthanized until it becomes absolutely necessary. Even our senior furry friends often have plenty of life left in them and deserve love, compassion, and attention until their very last breath.
