We all know how much joy it brings to see people lending a helping hand to animals in need. However, it’s not often that we witness animals expressing their gratitude. But recently, a remarkable incident occurred where a kangaroo offered a heartfelt handshake to the three men who had saved it from a freezing lake.

The story began when David Boyd spotted the kangaroo struggling in the icy waters of Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra. Without hesitation, two brave bystanders sprang into action, risking the chill to rescue the helpless animal. They cautiously approached the kangaroo, ensuring not to startle it. Despite the kangaroo flailing its arms, the rescuers remained undeterred and managed to lead the kangaroo safely out of the water.

With the kangaroo back on solid ground, a third kind-hearted man joined in to offer assistance. Together, they prevented any further distress to the scared and shivering animal. Kangaroos can be dangerous creatures when provoked, capable of delivering powerful punches, sharp claw strikes, and deadly kicks. Nevertheless, this kangaroo seemed to recognize that these men were its saviors. In a touching moment, it extended its paw as if to express its gratitude with a handshake.

As the rescue was captured on film, one of the men can be heard saying, “Aw, he’s thanking you.” The kangaroo, still in a state of shock, required half an hour to calm down. However, witnesses reported that it eventually hopped away, seemingly unharmed by the ordeal.
