Laziz, a tiger rescued from “the world’s worst zoo,” is now experiencing the joy of freedom in his new home. The 14-month-old tiger was previously kept in a cramped cage at Rafah Zoo in Palestine’s southern Gaza Strip, but thanks to the efforts of animal rights activists, he has been relocated to the LIONSROCK Lodge & Big Cat Sanctuary.

A Chance for Freedom

The conditions in Laziz’s previous enclosure were far from ideal. He was microchipped to allow visitors to interact with him, which animal rights activists deemed inhumane. But now, in his new, larger habitat, Laziz has the opportunity to roam freely and enjoy the outdoors.

Embracing a New Environment

Since his arrival at the sanctuary, Laziz has been gradually adjusting to his new surroundings. He can now spend a significant amount of time outside of his cage, enjoying the fresh air and open spaces. His new home at LIONSROCK Lodge & Big Cat Sanctuary is conveniently located right next door to his old enclosure, making the transition easier for him.

Discovering New Joys

One of the fascinating things about Laziz is his newfound fascination with wood. It seems that he never had the chance to experience wood in its natural form before. Now, he enjoys honing his claws on tree trunks and rubbing against the support structures of his home. Perhaps, for Laziz, this behavior brings both comfort and a way to mark his territory.

A Heartwarming Journey

We are overjoyed to see Laziz thriving in his new environment. Witnessing his transformation from a confined space to a place of freedom fills our hearts with joy. Want to see Laziz in action? Check out the video below!
