In a surprising turn of events, Caitlyn Jenner has publicly criticized President Biden for what she believes to be a deliberate attempt to link a Christian holiday with a day that celebrates transgender individuals.

Just one day before International Transgender Day of Visibility, which happens to coincide with Easter this year, Caitlyn Jenner expressed her discontent with Joe Biden specifically, as she suspects he intentionally planned for the two occasions to be simultaneous.

“I am absolutely disgusted that Joe Biden has declared the most Holy of Holy days – a self-proclaimed devout Catholic – as Transgender Day of Visibility. The only thing you should be declaring on this day is ‘HE is Risen’,” Jenner tweeted.

The irony in this situation is quite evident, as Caitlyn Jenner herself is transgender, and yet, she is vehemently opposed to the overlap of these two events. Furthermore, Joe Biden is not personally responsible for the occurrence of Transgender Day of Visibility on Easter.

The conservatives’ outrage can be traced back to an official White House proclamation, posted recently, which gives the impression that President Biden is the one instituting this observance. In reality, Transgender Day of Visibility has been recognized since 2009, during President Barack Obama’s time in office.

The proclamation states, “NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR., President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim March 31, 2024, as Transgender Day of Visibility.”

Additionally, it urges all Americans to support and amplify the voices of transgender individuals and work towards eradicating violence and discrimination based on gender identity.

While President Biden and his administration did not originate the holiday, they are certainly shining a spotlight on it. Given recent controversies surrounding transgender rights within the White House, it is understandable that conservatives are incensed by the timing of the day falling on Easter Sunday in 2024.

As we approach the upcoming election year, brace yourselves for more of such debates in the coming months.
