Animal lover wins $4 million from lottery scratch-off — and donates to local shelter

What would you do if you won the lottery? Many of us have big dreams of what we would spend it on, like a new house or a car. But when one animal-loving Massachusetts man won millions on a scratch-off, one of his first actions was to give back to pets in need.

Paul Riley, an animal lover from Peabody, Massachusetts, purchased a Massachusetts State Lottery “100X Cash” instant ticket game from a local store. After scratching it off, he was ecstatic to discover that he won the game’s $4 million prize, according to a news release.

Paul, accompanied by his adorable little dog Raven, showed up to claim his prize:

When asked about his plans for the money, Paul gave a generous answer. He revealed that part of his winnings would be donated to the Animal Rescue League. It’s heartwarming to see people using their wealth selflessly, especially to help animals in need. Of course, Paul also intends to treat himself and his family with some of the money. He mentioned that he plans to buy his wife a new car.

Paul chose to receive a one-time payment of $2,600,000 before taxes. Summit Variety, the store where he bought the lucky scratch-off, will also receive a $40,000 bonus.

Congratulations to Paul on this incredible lottery win, and a heartfelt thank you for deciding to give back and help shelter animals! Please share this heartwarming news!
