The incredible difference a haircut can make is truly remarkable, especially for a dog. Sadly, many stray and neglected dogs suffer from tangled and matted fur, causing them distress. Recently, a rescue organization took in one of the worst cases they’ve ever seen – a severely matted dog. However, after a much-needed makeover, this dog looked like a completely different creature. Let’s delve into the stunning transformation!

AARF – Animal Angels Rescue Foundation, a nonprofit rescue organization, received a distress call about a severely matted dog found in the Las Vegas area. The photos were heart-wrenching, showing the dog in terrible shape with thick, heavy matted fur covering his entire body. AARF stated that this was one of the worst cases they had ever seen. The poor dog’s condition was so severe that vets couldn’t even determine his sex at first, giving him the neutral name “Blythe.” (They later discovered that he is a male.)

It was evident that the dog had been struggling to survive on his own, and the toll it had taken on his health was distressing. He was severely dehydrated, and his teeth had been worn down from eating stones, rocks, and dirt. The dog’s constant itching had caused sores all over his body.

Blythe was immediately taken in by AARF’s vet, who shaved off the matted fur, gave him a much-needed bath, and trimmed his nails. Due to his dehydration, he was also put on fluids. AARF placed Blythe on a stray hold in case an owner came to claim him, but they made it clear that there would have to be a very good reason for his condition.

With the love and care he needed, Blythe began to relax, and his sweet personality started to shine through. AARF described him as a “very sweet boy” and expressed their pride in him for how well he was adjusting after all he had been through. The resilience of this dog was truly remarkable.

In an update, AARF shared photos of Blythe after his matted fur was shaved off, and the transformation was nothing short of unbelievable. He looked like a completely different dog, and the joy on his face was evident. Vets initially thought he was a shih tzu, but after the makeover, they believed he was more likely a mix of poodle, terrier, and bull.

AARF explained that the fur had been so thick that Blythe’s skin was burned and infected from trapped urine, making him miserable. However, now he is thriving and recovering in a foster home. Leaving the vet’s office may have been scary and confusing for him, but once he arrived at his foster home and met the other dogs and kids, a permanent smile was plastered on his face. He is one happy pup!

AARF mentioned that he will be up for adoption once he’s ready for that next step. With his traumatic past behind him, the future is looking bright for this resilient little dog. Reegan Tabor from AARF expressed that if Blythe could endure what he went through for who knows how long, the future challenges would be nothing for him.

What an incredible transformation! We are overjoyed that Blythe is finally free from all that thick, matted fur and is now living his best life. Please share this heartwarming story and spread the love!
