Christina Applegate, the talented actress known for her roles in shows like “Married with Children” and “Dead to Me,” recently opened up about her battle with multiple sclerosis (MS). In a candid interview with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts, Applegate discussed the overwhelming support she has received since publicly disclosing her diagnosis in 2021.

Applegate expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from her fans. She admitted that sitting down for the interview alongside her friend and fellow actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who also has MS, was challenging, considering the daily struggles she faces. “I live kind of in hell. I’m not out a lot, so this is feeling a little difficult just for my system,” she shared.

Despite the difficulties, Applegate and Sigler have formed a deep bond through their shared journey with MS. They sat down together for an interview with PEOPLE magazine, where they reflected on their remarkable friendship. “MS brought us together,” Sigler said. “Having each other has been incredibly helpful,” added Applegate.

During the interview, Roberts asked Applegate about her experience at the 2023 Emmy Awards, where she appeared to present awards for outstanding supporting actress and outstanding lead actress in a comedy series. Applegate candidly admitted, “I actually kind of blacked out. I don’t know what I said. Like, I don’t know what I was doing!”

Despite her temporary memory lapse, Applegate felt an overwhelming sense of love and support from the audience. “I felt really beloved, and it was really a beautiful thing,” she shared. However, being her usual comedic self, Applegate couldn’t help but make light of the situation, joking about the standing ovation she received. “We don’t have to applaud every time I do something,” she teased, generating laughter from the crowd.

Applegate’s MS diagnosis has brought about a shift in her career plans. She does not expect to continue working as an actor after the conclusion of the third and final season of “Dead to Me.” Applegate explained that she does not have the energy to commit to the demanding schedule of a set. However, her talent and humor will continue to resonate with her fans even beyond acting.

The interview with Applegate and Sigler will continue airing on Good Morning America, giving viewers further insight into their experiences with MS. It is clear that Applegate’s journey with multiple sclerosis has been challenging, but her resilience and humor shine through. Her openness about her struggles has undoubtedly inspired others facing similar battles.
