K9 police dogs play an invaluable role in law enforcement. With their incredible senses, they can do things that humans cannot. One such hero is Biza, a 3-year-old K9 who recently saved a missing child in Massachusetts.

On January 31, the Auburn Police Department received a call about a 12-year-old who had gone missing. With freezing temperatures and no time to waste, they called in Biza, a German shepherd/Belgian malinois mix, and her handler Officer David Ljunggren.

Biza quickly got to work, tracking the child’s scent for two miles. Within a short time, the child was found and reunited with their family, safe and sound. Without Biza’s help, it would have taken much longer to locate the child in the expansive search area.

Biza is an experienced K9 officer, trained in snow tracking, and certified by the North American Police Work Dog Association for patrol and narcotics work. In addition to locating missing persons, Biza has also helped track down criminals involved in domestic violence incidents and bar fights, leading to their arrests.

This brave and talented K9 has become a celebrity within the department, appearing on shirts, hoodies, and even a calendar. Biza’s dedication and skills are truly remarkable.
