Divorces can be messy, even more so when it involves dividing finances. Kelly Clarkson understands this all too well. After her divorce from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, she found herself in financial trouble. But there’s good news now.

Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock got married in 2013 but divorced in 2021. Since then, the singer has been involved in a legal battle with her ex-husband. Recently, she finally reached a settlement.

During their marriage, Blackstock also worked as Clarkson’s manager and charged her a commission. It has now been revealed that he took a significant amount of money from her. A California labor commissioner investigated the matter and found that Blackstock had overcharged her in commissions. Consequently, he has been instructed to return approximately $2,641,374 to the Grammy winner.

However, Blackstock is not accepting this decision easily. He is preparing to challenge the court’s ruling.

According to legal documents, Blackstock engaged in questionable practices by arranging jobs and making deals for his ex-wife. These deals included projects like “The Voice,” Norwegian Cruise Lines, Wayfair, and the Billboard Music Awards. The labor commissioner stated that only talent agents, not managers, should be responsible for arranging jobs for their clients. While there can be exceptions, this situation did not qualify.

As per the court ruling, Blackstock now owes Kelly Clarkson $1,983,155.70 for her time on “The Voice,” $208,125 for her work with Norwegian Cruise Lines, $450,000 for the Wayfair deal, and $93.30 for hosting the Billboard Music Awards on three occasions.

Kelly also sought compensation for her contributions to “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” but the court ruled in favor of Blackstock in that regard.

The divorce between Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock was finalized in March 2022. The legal battle also involved custody disputes over their two children and ownership of their shared Montana ranch. After the separation, Kelly spent time in New York City, focusing on rebuilding her life.

She released an album called “Chemistry,” drawing inspiration from her own experiences. Despite the challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, Kelly expressed contentment with being single for now and having no plans to start dating anytime soon.

Starting over can be challenging, especially when you believed you would spend the rest of your life with someone but ended up divorced. We wish Kelly Clarkson all the best in her future endeavors. She has faced numerous legal battles in recent years, and this favorable ruling is cause for celebration among her fans.
