A Story of Resilience and Love

In a heartwarming tale of hope and resilience, two incredible dogs named Flo and Jerry have overcome the odds to find love and happiness after enduring unimaginable hardships. Meet these extraordinary canines and be inspired by their remarkable journey.

Finding Light in Darkness

Flo, a six-year-old hound, had a painful past that left her with 36 gunshot pellets in her body. It is believed that she suffered not only from being hit by a train but also endured abuse from a cruel previous owner. Despite her painful ordeal, Flo now enjoys a good life filled with love and care from her devoted owners, Shena and Ian Fairless.

A Bond That Transcends Limitations

Jerry, a Jack Russell cross, had his rear legs amputated at just one year old after being hit by a car. Despite having only two legs, Jerry doesn’t let that stop him from having fun. When Flo and Jerry first met, they immediately formed a strong bond. They play together, cuddle up to each other, and even enjoy pushing Flo’s pet buggy when she gets tired. Their friendship reminds us that love knows no boundaries.

A Lifelong Home and Second Chances

Shena and Ian, who run Pudz Animal Sanctuary, opened their hearts and home to Flo and Jerry. Shena had already cared for Jerry when he was just a six-month-old puppy, and she knew she could provide a loving forever home for both dogs. Jerry was born paralyzed, and Shena and Ian raised funds to have his hind legs amputated and fitted with wheels. Flo, on the other hand, hop on her hind limbs but requires a pet buggy for longer distances.

Overcoming Tragedy with Love

The extent of Flo’s injuries shocked Shena and Ian. Not only were her bones broken, but she was also peppered with gunshot pellets. Despite the heartbreaking discovery, Flo remains a remarkable dog, displaying unwavering affection towards humans despite the pain she has endured. Thanks to the support of the community, Flo received the medical attention she needed, and she now lives a happy and fulfilled life.

A Sanctuary of Compassion

Shena and Ian’s dedication to animal welfare is truly inspiring. In 2013, they founded Pudz Animal Sanctuary, providing a safe haven for 136 animals, including cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks, and chickens. Through their hard work and the support of generous donors, they are able to give these animals a second chance at life.

A Bright Future

Shena and Ian’s dream is to expand their sanctuary and create an even bigger haven for animals in need. They are currently working towards their goal of raising £50,000 to acquire a piece of land. With this expansion, they aim to rescue and care for even more animals, providing them with the love and attention they deserve.

As animal lovers, we can support the incredible work of Shena and Ian by donating to their sanctuary or attending Vegan Festivals organized by Shena. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these resilient and deserving animals.

Let Flo and Jerry’s story serve as a reminder that love and compassion can heal even the deepest wounds. These incredible dogs are a testament to the resilience of the animal spirit and the transformative power of a loving forever home.
