An Unforgettable Multigenerational Moment

In a heartwarming moment that touched the hearts of people around the world, the incredible MaeDell Taylor Hawkins, an extraordinary 98-year-old matriarch from Kentucky, had the joy of meeting her great-great-great-grandchild for the very first time. With her daughter, grandchildren, and extended family by her side, MaeDell cradled seven-month-old Zhavia Whitaker, creating a treasured photograph that quickly captured the attention of all who saw it.

“We knew it was something special because it’s all girls,” shared Gracie Snow Howell, MaeDell’s granddaughter and co-star in the photograph. Beyond capturing the deep connection between multiple generations, the image also represents the undeniable strength and resilience embodied by these phenomenal women.

A Life Filled with Extraordinary Stories

MaeDell’s journey through life has been filled with extraordinary experiences. Soon, in July, she will be turning 99 years old. Her story began at a young age when, at just 16 years old, she married her first husband – a 50-year-old railroad worker with ten children from a previous relationship.

Despite living without many modern conveniences we often take for granted, such as running water and washing machines, MaeDell never complained about the hardships she faced. Gracie fondly remembers her grandmother’s unwavering strength and her remarkable ability to provide for her large family, regardless of the circumstances.

“If someone were to ask me about my best memory of Grandma, it would be her tomato preserves,” shared Gracie, reminiscing about a treasured memory that encapsulates the love and flavors passed down through the generations. MaeDell not only built a rich family legacy through her children and descendants, but she also left behind her famous tomato preserves recipe – a symbol of her enduring love for her family.

A Legacy That Knows No Bounds

MaeDell’s devotion and sacrifices have laid a strong foundation for future generations. She has played an integral role in the lives of her family, and her extraordinary love has multiplied into a vast network of relatives. With an incredible 106 grandchildren, 222 great-grandchildren, 234 great-great-grandchildren, and 37 great-great-great-grandchildren scattered across the United States, her impact is immeasurable.
