Valerie Bertinelli, beloved actor and Food Network star, recently shared a heartfelt message with her followers. In a TikTok video, she bravely spoke about the painful memories of being mercilessly humiliated by a former lover because of her weight. With a touch of laughter, she discussed how wearing jeans would trigger those hurtful experiences. But now, she can reflect on her journey with strength and humor.

The Hidden Bruises

Valerie explained that while she can now laugh about her choice of clothing, it wasn’t always the case. In the past, the hurtful comments about her weight would make her stop wearing jeans altogether. She recounts the terrible mockery, the words that suggested she was lazy or undeserving of love. Those scars left her with what she describes as “hidden injuries” – the emotional, verbal, and mental abuse that lingers within us.

“Hidden injuries” aren’t visible to others, but they impact us every day when they resurface. However, Valerie expressed gratitude for the progress she has made in her healing journey.

Overcoming Fear and Taking a Stand

Valerie confessed that she felt scared to share this post, fearing that some might tell her to move on. But she had an empowering message for anyone who had negative remarks to offer. She said, “This is called moving on. This is known as healing. And welcome to everybody who can identify with this and feels seen. I’m simply another member of your clan.”

Finding Healing after Heartbreak

While Valerie didn’t mention a specific ex-partner, her candid comments came shortly after she discussed her healing process following her divorce. She shared her belief that emotional suffering can become physically stored in the body and how she’s actively seeking healing through therapy, journaling, meditation, and rolfing, a type of bodywork.

In May 2022, Valerie filed for divorce from her ex-husband, Tom Vitale, after six months of legal separation. And in November 2022, she joyfully announced her formal divorce, describing it as the “second best day of my life.”

Valerie confidently declared that she is done with the narcissistic influence of her past and has chosen a path of healing and self-discovery.

Valerie Bertinelli’s journey of overcoming humiliation and finding healing serves as an inspiration to many. Her bravery in sharing her story and providing support to those who can relate is a testament to her resilience and strength. She shows us that while emotional scars may be invisible, they can be healed and transformed into a source of empowerment. Valerie invites us all to join her in embracing our own healing journeys and emerging stronger on the other side.
