I once asked my friend, “What’s the secret behind your happy married life?”

He replied with a warm smile, “You should share responsibilities with love and respect each other. If you do that, there will be absolutely no problems.”

Curious, I requested, “Can you explain more in detail?”

With a thoughtful expression, he said, “In our home, I handle the decisions on bigger issues, while my wife takes care of the smaller ones. We respect each other’s roles and do not interfere in each other’s decisions.”

Still a bit skeptical, I urged him, “Can you give me some examples?”

He chuckled and continued, “For instance, in our house, my decisions are about very big, global issues. Things like whether America should attack Iran, whether Britain should lift sanctions on Zimbabwe, whether a new state like Bodoland should be formed, or even whether Ronaldo should retire from football. And you know what?”

My friend paused for effect before adding with a grin, “My wife NEVER objects to any of these decisions!”

In essence, their secret is a beautiful balance of mutual respect and shared responsibilities, realizing that the small things matter just as much as the big ones and maintaining a light-hearted approach to life’s complexities.
