The two respectively starred on the popular series as love interests Brenda and Dylan

Shannen Doherty’s fans are remembering the late star years after the death of her Beverly Hills, 90210 costar Luke Perry.

After news of Doherty’s death at age 53 was confirmed, several fans paid tribute to the actress by recalling how she and Perry — who died years earlier in 2019 after a stroke — played lovers Brenda and Dylan on the popular series.

One supporter on social media wrote: “So sad to hear about Shannen Doherty. She was an amazing actress and bravely fought her cancer. … May she rest in peace. Say hi to Luke for us.”

Another shared that they were set to meet Doherty at an upcoming appearance at Fan Expo Chicago in August prior to her death. “She was so strong. Glad she’s reunited with Luke,” they penned.

Looking back on the popular drama series, a third fan praised the relationship between Doherty and Perry’s characters.

“Brenda and Dylan were my first ship before I even knew what shipping was. I’m so sad that Luke and now Shannen are gone but I also know they’re reunited now. Now excuse me while I go cry,” they posted.

One other also noted how the fictional relationship impacted them, writing, “TV viewers of a certain age, my age, will never forget Brenda and Dylan.”

They added, “That Shannen Doherty and Luke Perry both died in their 50s, my age, is a sad reminder for us all not to take our days or our relationships for granted. May they be reunited in the great Peach Pit in the sky.”

Others, meanwhile, looked back on Doherty’s guest appearance in a 2019 episode of Riverdale, which Perry starred in until his death.

“Riverdale’s best episode was the tribute to Luke, Shannen’s guest appearance makes it so much sadder now,” wrote one fan.

At the time, Doherty reflected on her cameo on Instagram, where she said she felt “deeply honored to pay tribute to Luke” on the CW hit series.

“The care in which this show takes in honoring his memory is beautiful,” she wrote in a caption while sharing two photos of herself with the late actor. “He is missed. Today. Tomorrow. Forever.”
