1. He still has feelings for her

They broke up for a concrete reason, but that reason has not kept them off each other’s minds. He might think the breakup was a mistake, done in haste, and resulted in ending a perfectly good relationship. He may wish to get back together with her. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean she feels the same way, and chances are these feelings will fade over time.

2. He never wanted to break up

Perhaps he didn’t want to end the relationship in the first place. His ex might have been determined to break it off, and now he stays in touch hoping she will reconsider and resume the relationship.

3. He’s unhappy in the present relationship

If he’s unhappy in the current relationship, he might seek comfort in the familiarity of his old love. Staying in touch with his ex can be a sign that he’s tired of putting effort into the new relationship, which is unfair to his current partner. His unhappiness might stem from two primary reasons:

– Incompatibility: Being in an unhappy relationship because of fear to face the truth isn’t a healthy option.– Still being in love with the ex: It’s important to acknowledge true feelings. Being in a relationship with one person while loving another can’t last long.

4. They are friends

Sometimes, a breakup isn’t strong enough to destroy a friendship. If they remain friends, there’s always a chance of reconciliation. However, if their relationship was bitter, they likely won’t get back together. Their friendship might be more substantial than their brief romantic involvement, and they wouldn’t want to throw away a long-standing friendship just because their romantic relationship didn’t work out.

5. He constantly needs to know what she is up to

If their relationship was extremely competitive, it might have been toxic and unhealthy. After the breakup, he might still keep tabs on his ex, with the unhealthy competition continuing. This could involve competing over jobs, salaries, partners, or property. The competition keeps them in touch, with victories and losses on both sides.

6. He wants to torment her

Sometimes, an ex might contact their former partner to torment them. This could be because he gets a kick out of causing her misery. He might say he’s moved on but still finds ways to nudge her unnecessarily. This can happen in two scenarios:

– He knows she still has feelings for him and enjoys giving her false hopes, building up conversations with romantic hints and then taking it all away, enjoying her distress.– She wants nothing to do with him, having moved on from the expired relationship, but he still finds unique ways to irritate her regularly.
