During this last performance, Elvis sat at a piano onstage in Rapid City, South Dakota, delivering a haunting rendition of “Unchained Melody.” The performance, recorded six weeks before his passing, stands out not just for its historic significance, but also for the energy and charisma Elvis displayed.

“Elvis loved you, his heart was filled with love for his fans! Despite needing painkillers to get through the show, he refused his doctors’ advice to cancel. He insisted, ‘No, no way I will cancel this show and let those people down!’ So the doctors gave him a mix of painkillers and steroids to help him deliver the best performance he could. And he truly did so – his talent shone through, beyond the mist of painkillers. His love and talent were unstoppable, driven by his admiration for his fans more than his own life. Elvis was a remarkable human being, irreplaceable and unique!”
