Lenny Kravitz is saving himself for someone special.

In a new interview with The Guardian, the Blue Electric Light artist, 60, opened up about his relationship status.

Kravitz shared that it’s been nine years since his last serious relationship. He emphasized that he’s committed to remaining celibate during this period.

“Yes. It’s a spiritual thing,” he stated.

While he is open to finding love, Kravitz acknowledged that any potential partner would need to adapt to his unique lifestyle.

“I have become very set in my ways, in the way I live,” Kravitz added.

Back in 2008, he discussed his choice of celibacy with Maxim.

He shared, “It’s just a promise I made until I get married. Where I’m at in life, women need to bring more than just physical attributes — it’s about the mind and spirit too.”

Though he admitted it might surprise some, he’s firm on his decision. “I’m looking at the big picture,” he explained.

In a 2011 interview with Details, Kravitz clarified that his earlier comments had been blown out of proportion. “Sorry, man, I’m not going to deal with that question. I said it, and it just got blown way out of proportion,” he told them.

During a recent interview with Gayle King for CBS Mornings, the host asked about his love life.

“Asking for a friend — Is there love in your life? Do you have a significant other in your life? And can I beat her ass if she is?” King jokingly inquired.

Though surprised, Kravitz laughed it off. King persisted, “But do you have a partner? Do you have love in your life?”

“Right now, I’m just open,” he replied.

King followed up, “Are you even looking for someone special?”

“It’s hard not to look,” he said. “When you desire something, you look for it. But often, you find it when you’re not actively searching.”

He added, “I’ve been saying for years, ‘I’m ready. I’m ready. I’m ready.’ But I’ve realized that I wasn’t truly ready. Now, I’ve never felt more prepared than I do now.”

Lenny Kravitz was married to Lisa Bonet from 1987 to 1993. They welcomed their daughter, Zoë, in 1988.

Since then, Kravitz has been linked to Vanessa Paradis, Adriana Lima, and Nicole Kidman.

Kravitz’s latest album, Blue Electric Light, is available now for purchase and streaming.
